Podcasting is intriguing.

It’s like Radio Broadcasting on steroids without all the restrictions and guidelines.

Sitting in your home office and talking about your favorite topics, or interviewing carefully selected guests to discuss a wide variety of topics in your niche, and then top it off with the opportunity to make 10K a month income – it creates the secret sauce to making a living through podcasting.

Recently I had the privilege to speak to a young entrepreneur named Andrew ‘Apple’ Crider.  At 19, Apple’s Young Smart Money Podcast reached the Top 100 Business Podcasts on YouTube within 6 months of starting. Now a year and half later, he’s making over 6 figures a year and helping others do the same. Very impressive.

I was going to interview him regarding podcast equipment, but what I got out of our conversation was much more, but I’ll come back to that in a minute.

Podcasting can be audio or visual, and I asked Apple why he chose to use video for his podcasting. He said he can repurpose the content on his social media, which I must say is brilliant in promoting his business. Plus YouTube gives him better ratings and more opportunity to build his audience. And Google loves YouTube, which is just bonus for business.

Knowing your audience is key in any business, knowing where they hang-out and look for information is a winning combination. Video is huge for Apple’s audience and niche, and he can easily connect with his growing followers.

When I asked him about podcast equipment he said he uses Blue Yeti microphone, Audacity for editing and Zoom for meeting with quests.

Yeti microphones are great quality and affordable, while the clip on style microphones can pick up noise when you move, but it also depends on the room you’re using it to record in.

The room you’re recording in at home will also determine what type of microphone you need. Unless you sound proofed your office, you may have dogs barking (like at my house!) or kids outside playing that you have to factor in when recording.

Editing on Audacity is free and fairly easy to learn, and Zoom is also a free platform to use to meet and record your interviews. However, he really doesn’t think too much about what he’s using or how it looks…

He is focused on getting it done – and getting results.

He is proof that the ‘done is the new perfect’ is not only working, but highly successful.

He has focused on one thing – podcasting. One platform – YouTube. And has added his frontend and backend sales to produce and established a six figure a year business without being an affiliate or having spondsors.

How do you top that? You teach others to do the same thing.

Like I said before, it’s more than an interview about podcast equipment.

Some of the younger generation are quickly learning that working hourly isn’t going to get you anywhere. Finding their purpose and mission early on and focusing on one thing with today’s technology… produces massive results. Having the passion to then turn around and help others…that’s the sercret magic sauce.

Find your purpose. Have a mission.

Focus on one thing…

and create your secret sauce.
